Our History
Present Day
Today the next generation has decided to carry on the family legacy. Taylor and Laine under the supervision of Jason Phillips have continued the family tradition as fifth generation home builders. Phillips Builders embraces the same tried and true values set forth by Randall Phillips Senior back in 1952… of building a quality home at an affordable price, of treating every customer with respect and delivering on all promises made. Discerning home owners in the Nashville area have embraced the age old vision and values that Randall Phillips held dear and have supported Phillips Builders for 70 years. Now is an exciting time for a proud family that has made the American dream of home ownership possible for so many people in Middle Tennessee.
Third Generation
In the 1990s Randall Senior’s three grandsons, Randall, Jason, and Charlie Phillips carried the family tradition forward. Each growing up under the watchful eyes of their grandfather Randall and their father Eddie in the family business. Each started out as laborers, framers, estimators and worked their way up to superintendents. They have learned the business from the bottom up and are now poised to keep the homegrown, hometown, family business in the forefront of homebuilding.
Second Generation
In 1970 Randall’s oldest son, Eddie, joined the company and together they continued to grow the Phillips brand until 1989 when Eddie took over as president. The Phillips family with a dedicated group of employees, successfully ran the business under the Phillips name and maintained the number one status in the market until Eddie retired in 2003.
First Generation
From humble beginnings Randall became the number one homebuilder in Nashville. His innovative thinking, riverboat gambler instincts and work ethic enabled Phillips Builders to be at the forefront of the home building industry. His company built some of the first condominiums and planned communities in the Nashville area.

Jason Phillips
About Jason
Jason has been working in homebuilding for over 35 years, and learned the business under the guidance of his grandfather. Jason attended the University of Tennessee and received a degree in Business Finance. After college, Jason served as an assistant superintendent for two years before working his way up to superintendent for the company. In 1998, Jason started a homebuilding company with his brother. For the last six years, Jason has been doing land development and infill building in the Nashville area. The team looks forward to continuing to work and learn under Jason’s leadership!

Taylor Phillips
About Taylor
Taylor graduated from the University of Tennessee in May of 2018 with a degree in Business Finance. Since graduation, Taylor has been working in construction and learning the business of homebuilding. Taylor is excited to work in the family business and partner with his cousin, Laine, working as the fifth generation of Phillips Builders!

Laine Phillips
About Laine
Laine attended Samford University where she received a double major in accounting and economics. Following undergrad, Laine obtained her master’s degree and her CPA license while utilizing her accounting skills in the professional world. Laine joined the team in September of 2020, and the team is so happy to have her!
Executive Vice President
Clint Mitchell
About Clint
Clint Mitchell has been in the residential home building business for over 34 years. Upon graduating from Northeast Louisiana University in 1987 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Building Science, he went to work for Middle Tennessee’s largest home builder Phillips Builders. He started as a junior estimator and in two years was promoted to Vice President of Estimating Department. Mitchell was later promoted to Senior Vice President of Purchasing and Estimating. After spending 23 years with Phillips, Mitchell left to start a new company, Citizens Homes, with a group and opened offices in Nashville, Myrtle Beach and Raleigh. Citizens Homes was purchased by UCP and then Century Communities where he held several positions including Vice President and Division President. We are so excited to have Clint Mitchell back for version 3 of Phillips Builders!
